Here is a picture I took at a volleyball tournament while eating a healthy snack of blueberries, I focused in on the carton, and let the table and everything behind it be blurry.

Focus
One of the prettiest things to do for your pictures to make it more interesting, is to focus it. The best thing to do is to focus on one thing and let the rest of the background be blurry. It makes your picture look more professional and really just all around better looking! It is one of the coolest things to do and I always use it in my photography. The Canon brand of cameras usually have a setting called "Digital Macro", which is the setting used for close-up pictures.
